Mount Everest, 8846 m, as seen from Kala Pattar hill near Gorakshep. This is the bes viewpoint of Everest, which can not be seen from the base camp. On the right is the Nuptse ridge.
The base camp is located in the end of the Khumbu Glacier almost bellow the sheer wall of the Lo La pass to Tibet. This is the start of the West ridge route to Everest taken by the american team in march -85.
